Busy day today, spent most of it working on my sketchbook. I’ve got everything blu-tacked and made annotations in pencil at the moment but am happy with the layout so far so will start sticking things in properly. I’ve also discussed my FMP proposal with Tracey further, we have to have a mentor within the fashion industry as it has to be a live, industry linked project. This basically means that I need to get contacting some childrenswear and womenswear companies that I would potentially like to work for. Ideally I need to find someone who would be willing to be my mentor; they don’t need to do a great deal, I just need to keep in occasional contact with them throughout the course of my FMP to get some professional feedback.
My outfit today was channelling my inner rock chick. I’ve been looking for a high-waisted pencil skirt for ages but haven’t managed to find one that I really like (that I could afford at the moment anyway!). I also always have difficulty buying high-waisted stuff as my waist is so small, so I made my own. I really should make more stuff for myself, I love doing it, just wish I had more time. But it all adds to my pattern cutting and manufacture experience so I’m going to do it more often. This only took me a couple of hours anyway and that included making the pattern:
A few silly shots for a bit of fun!
T-shirt: The Pogues
Pencil Skirt: Handmade by me
Well I still can’t drive anywhere, it was -19 last night. It’s crazy, I’m really not built for these temperatures!!! So I’ve spent the day indoors doing lots of cooking: spicy parsnip and sweet potato soup, started making marmalade (you have to leave it overnight) and lots of gingerbread that will be turned into gingerbread houses tomorrow. Present wrapping whilst watching Harry Potter now, I love love love Christmas 🙂
Did venture outside very briefly for Dave to take my photo in the snow, it’s so pretty I just wish it wasn’t so cold!
Boyfriend Cardigan: Topshop
T-shirt: The Pogues at Manchester Apollo
Leggings and socks: River Island
I feel rather French today in my red beret, one of the few things I like about winter is that I get to wear all my hats; I seemed to have a particular beret fetish last winter and now have four in different colours! I’m sure you will be seeing me in the others rather regularly if today’s weather is anything to go by; it’s far too rainy, cold and grotty to spend ages making my hair look pretty. Today’s photo was taken indoors in rubbish light, it’s always too dark when we get home to take the photo outside now.
Dress: Motel Rocks
Cardigan: Cherokee @ Tesco
I didn’t manage to post last night so this is what I wore yesterday……
The dress is about 5 years old from Warehouse and I still adore it, you can’t really tell from the photo but it has a lovely peter pan collar.
Two pairs of tights for extra warmth!!!
I love my leapord print tights 🙂 and have brightened them up even more with red patent shoes. Wish I had done I coatless shot so that you could see my dress: it’s got little puff shouldered sleeves and an exposed zip. Very cold though so the coat stayed on, I have my lovely photographer (and boyfriend!) Dave back and we stopped at Copmere on the way home to take some photos. I may look like I’m trying (and failing) to do a sexy pout in this photo, I assure you I’m not, I’ve just got a very fat lip at the moment 😦
Fur Coat: River Island
Today looked like it was going to be really cold so I put on my snuggley cat jumper 🙂
Not a lot else to say about this outfit really, it nice and toasty though…
Jumper Dress: Topshop
With it being so grotty outside this morning I didn’t want to stand outside getting wet whilst Dave took my photo and so we stopped on the way home from uni at Copmere where I met Mrs Goose…..but the picture of me and the goose on the jetty was too dark so Dave wouldn’t let me put it up. I couldn’t get to close anyway, she was a bit nervy
Today I’m wearing:
Cape: Disorder, this really cool independant boutique in Birmingham
Skirt: Made by me!!
Rings: Bertie the Bear from Topshop, Love from River Island
My hair is the outcome of my first attempt with cushion rollers, I’m really pleased with the results and no heat styling 🙂
