My Tea Dress Again and Trying to De-Stress…

Normally I try not to post the exact same outfit too close together but I knew we were going to look around Berrington Hall and I thought that my 1930s dress would look best in the dairy of this neo-classical mansion. Dave took this lovely picture of me, I think the coral colour of the dress stands out beautifully against the colour of the tiles.

Dress: 1930s vintage from Tea Gowns and Textiles

Cardigan: Topshop

Tights: Falke

Brogues: Topshop

Berrington Hall is only 10 minutes away from Tea Gowns and Textiles which is where I bought the dress from several years ago. It seemed the perfect opportunity to pay another visit! I didn’t buy anything as I’m trying to save money but there was a beautiful red velvet 1920s turban that I was covetting!

I’ve been getting myself a bit stressed out this afternoon, as I’ve mentioned before I have to write a business plan for my module “Start Up Planning and Promotion” and so have been doing a lot of research into living costs, business start up costs etc and just generally thinking about where I want to be in 5 years time. I have so much that I want to achieve and am so determined to be successful in the fashion industry, but it is hard. Don’t get me wrong I absolutely love it, if I won the lottery I’d still be doing what I’m doing. Come to think about it, winning the lottery would take away the things that are worrying me, fingers crossed for Saturday night eh?!!

I got myself so het up that I wasn’t actually getting any proper work done, so I did what I always do when I get stressed out: closed my laptop, wrote a list of everything I need to get done and then made a timetable hour by hour for the next severn days. It alway calms me down and also means that I put my time to best use.

Once I had calmed down, I created two surveys for research for my business plan. One for potential customers, Click here to take survey and one for potential suppliers (boutique owners) Click here to take survey. I’ve emailed this to various companies and posted it on blogs too, hopefully I’ll get lots of replies.

Back at Anna Scholz….

Over the summer I did a work placement with the lovely people at Anna Scholz and have been lucky enough to be invited to work with them for another 2 weeks 🙂 Check out Anna’s Blog. So here I am back in the big smoke, but it’s a bit colder than when I was here in July!! Unfortunately I have forgotten to bring my camera with me, hence the reason I’ve been a bit neglectful on the outfit posts. I’m going back home for the weekend though so I promise to make up for it next week. Just to keep you going, here’s a photo of when I helped out at an Anna Scholz photoshoot in the summer:

Personal Planning Introduction

Today we had  our introduction to our module “Personal Planning”, the aim of this module is to get our portfolio up to scratch and also complete UCAS applications. I’ve registered for open days for Top Up Degree Courses at Manchester Met, Nottingham Trent and Bournemouth Arts College. I want to go somewhere that specifically offers a top-up degree course as if I choose somewhere that is just a degree course I would have to go in on the second year and so would end up doing a 4-year degree instead of 3.

Job Update

I’ll do a proper post later but it occured to me that I hadn’t updated you on the job situation; I got offered jobs at River Island and The White Stuff. I took the one at River Island because their stuff is more my style and they were offering more hours and if I wanted to the opportunity for career progression there sounds pretty good. Not that I’m planning a career in retail but you never know, it’s always good to have more options I guess. So I’m a River Island girlie in my jeans, staff t-shirt and radio now! So so not a jeans person, the only other pair I own are the ones I wear to walk the dog!

Interviews day 3

So, last nights interview went brilliantly. The manager is going to let me know today, if I get it she wants me to start tomorrow. But now I have another interview tonight and this is the one that I want most of all. Not sure what I should do if I get either of the first two. The one last night had really good opportunities to progress up the retail ladder, would be good experience. Was quite pleased that I had to talk through my outfit and why I had chosen it; I was wearing Miss Selfridge shoes, trousers and a favourite vintage top with swallows as the print.  Also these amazing statement ring s from Topshop, my favourite is Bertie the Bear! Will upload a picture once I get my boyfriend to take one!
