So my degree certificate arrived today, I officially have a Foundation Degree with Distinction. It’s nice to have the proper thing in my hands. I’ve mentioned before that in September I will be starting my top up year to get my BA Honours Degree, I’ve spent the past couple of weeks doing a lot of pattern cutting and I love it so much that I have been thinking about doing a post graduate diploma after the top-up. It’s something to consider, I’ve got other things in the pipe line but it’s something I think I would enjoy.
We’ve been having gorgeous weather this past week, it’s been so nice to actually wear some summery clothes:
I love these lacy ankle socks, I think they finish this outfit of just nicely too 🙂
Sunglasses: River Island
I’ve been desperately searching for a pair of palazzo pants for about 6 months now, being above average height and with a very small waist has made it very difficult! They’ve either been swinging around above my ankles or literally falling off me. So I never bothered to even try this pair on when they came into our store a couple of months back, I loved them but all the other River Island ones I’d tried hadn’t fitted at all. But they went into the sale and there was a size 6 and to my delight they fit like a glove. I had been wearing them with a cream blazer but the weather was so beautiful that I didn’t need it:

So I’ve been working flat out on a very exciting project for the past couple of weeks. Hopefully I’ll be able to tell you more about it soon but at the moment I’ve got to keep it secret! I saw Dave very briefly on Sunday as I’ve been staying at my Mum’s house. He came over for the day and we went for a wander around Stokesay Castle in the sunshine. We got a few stares, I don’t think we are the usual clientèle; me colour clashing to the max and Dave with his camera and all his tattoos on show!
I adore this outfit but was absolutely heartbroken when I noticed a seam on the sleeve of my jacket was splitting. I’ve only worn it for a couple of hours, I was kind of expecting it as we had a lot returned to the store for the same reason but I thought I would get a bit more wear out of it. So I’ve had to cut my losses and return it as faulty, there was no repairing it as the edges hadn’t been overlocked and so were fraying away to nothing inside the jacket (hence the reason the seam was coming apart). Still, even without the jacket there’s plenty of colour blocking going on in this outfit! Everything apart from the shoes was from River Island in the sale, I got some serious bargains:
Blazer: River Island £35 reduced to £20
Open Back Tie Top: River Island £24.99 reduced to £10
Pink City Shorts: River Island £19.99 reduced to £10
Scarf: River Island £12.99 reduced to £5
Clear Lensed Glasses: River Island £12.99 reduced to £5
Handbag: River Island £39.99 reduced to £20
All of my hard work has paid off, I got a distinction for my foundation degree! It’s the equivalent of a first and I’m so so happy and so relieved. I always think that the thing about creative degrees is that your work is so subjective you never quite know how it will be judged. It puts me in a good position for my top-up year to get my honours degree.
So I’ve been a bad blogger lately, I’ve been working long shifts at River Island most days and just haven’t had much time. I’ve also been in a bit of a creative rut since finishing uni and as such my blog has lost a bit of momentum; I just realised I’ve spent way too much time recently looking at the Topshop, River Island etc. websites when I could be designing. My latest issue of Elle magazine had arrived when I got home today with the runway edit, I’m planning on sitting down with a coffee and using it for some inspiration. I needed to just switch my brain off for a while but feel like it’s time to get back to it now.
I haven’t got an outfit post today but look at my new shoes:
I’ve been hunting for a pair of boat shoes for months and when a girl came into River Island the other day wearing this pair I just had to ask her where they were from. They were from Next and were a complete bargain, I would never have thought of looking in there it’s just not a shop I ever go in usually. Promise I will be blogging more again and being more creative over the next few weeks 🙂
